Starting in 2021, the Writers and Readers Festival : Angkor International Festival of the Arts seeks to share and spread the word in Cambodia and beyond.
In my role as festival director, the inaugural festival saw Khmer and international poets, writers, journalists and commentators descend on Siem Reap for three days of literary events. Amongst these were sessions dedicated to new books, creative writing workshops, open mic., and multi-visual experiences.
Fresh out of the uncertainty created by the Covid pandemic, the festival helped to give a sense of normality, returning; and, more importantly, an opportunity for people to share and experience, together, once again.
In 2022 I will be taking up the role of director once again, with the aiming of building on and improving what was accomplished in 2021.
